VALENTINES DAY - A BIT OF HISTORY – CONTRIBUTED BY SHARON ROTH
Valentines Day originated as a Western feast day honoring one or two early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine and is recognized as a significant cultural, religious and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.
There are a number of martyrdom stories
associated with various Valentines who died on February 14 including an account
of the imprisonment of Saint Valentine of Rome for ministering to Christians
persecuted under thr Roman Empire in the third century. According
to an early tradition, Saint Valentine restored sight to a blind daughter of
his jailer. Numerous later additions to the legend have better related to the
theme of love: an 18th century embellishment to the legend claims he wrote the
jailer’s daughter a letter signed “Your Valentine” as a farewell before his
execution. And much like love, St. Valentine and his reputation as the patron
of love are not matters of verifiable history, but of faith. HAPPY

SAIL AIKI CATAMARAN SAILING OUT OF FORT PIERCE CONTRIBUTED BY SUSAN STIEHEL
We took our family out on this
excellent two - hour sunset sail excursion last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed
it! Our friends Ron and Belinda sailed on Aiki over the summer and highly
recommended it to us so we’re passing it along.
Captain Kyle and First Mate Hannah
were excellent hosts and they run charters out of Fort Pierce on the weekends.
The boat can take 6 passengers, and
the website has photos, videos, a calendar to schedule your trip and contact
information.
Kyle and Hannah are very safety
conscious, attentive, and knowledgable . We can’t wait to go back!
Attached is a photo of the boat
owners.
There is outdoor seating at Taco
Dive, but we usually take out and eat on the beach or bring home, the food is
